ALLENTOWN, Penn.—Men are more likely to use mobile payments than women, and restaurants have a big opportunity to expand their POS with mobile, according to a new study.
A report from Harbortouch reveals that men are twice as likely to use some form of mobile payment compared to women. The analysis also shows that restaurants are not meeting the demands customers have for mobile payments in their establishments.
"One of the more interesting findings we uncovered from our survey is the growing desire for consumers to use mobile payment technology at restaurants,” said Jared Isaacman, founder and CEO of Harbortouch, in published reports. “Currently, most mobile payment transactions happen in retail environments. There is now a unique opportunity for restaurants to gain a competitive advantage by making mobile payments part of the dining experience."
The survey consisted of 1,000 U.S. adults, and the results were published at the 2015 National Restaurant Association Show.
And no surprise, among those surveyed, Millennials were the highest percentage of mobile payment users, with nearly half of respondents (41.9%) falling into that demographic.
