In Wake of Reports About ‘Toxic’ Culture, FDIC Names Boston Consulting Group to Implement Plan to Improve Work Environment

WASHINGTON – A year after explosive allegations about a toxic work environment, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has selected Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Federal Corporation to advise and assist the agency in implementing its Action Plan for a Safe, Fair, and Inclusive Work Environment, which includes recommendations from a separate independent third-party review and the FDIC Office of the Inspector General.

According to the agency, the initiatives are intended to improve the FDIC’s workplace culture, policies, procedures and structures affecting interpersonal misconduct.

BCG Federal will report directly to the board.

“BCG Federal has extensive experience in workplace culture and change management projects for both public and private sector clients,” the FDIC said. “The team of experts at BCG Federal has advised and assisted with workplace culture transformation, fostering psychological safety, empowering teams, and leadership development at other government agencies.”

Transformation Monitor Established

The agency added the firm was selected from among several advisors after a competitive, public solicitation.

The FDIC has also announced the selection of a Transformation Monitor who will monitor and audit how the FDIC implements its workplace culture initiatives and engage with BCG Federal as part of its work.
