COO Mike Chapman will succeed Laffoon.

Laffoon served the credit union for more than 35 years.

Laffoon began his career at Security Service in 1989, serving as the credit union’s corporate planner and strategist. Over the years, he held several key leadership roles, including chief information officer and chief operating officer. He was promoted to president in December 2012 and named chief executive officer in March 2014.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve Security Service and our members,” said Laffoon. “While I take great pride in all we have accomplished as a credit union, I know the time is right for me to begin this next chapter of life. I leave knowing the organization is in strong, capable hands.”

“Jim’s leadership has been a guiding force for Security Service for more than three decades,” said Maria Langford, chairman of the board of directors. “His unwavering commitment to Security Service, and the communities we serve has shaped the credit union’s success. We are deeply grateful for his service, and we are confident in Mike Chapman and the leadership team’s ability to lead us forward with success and purpose.”

Chapman brings more than three decades of leadership experience in financial services to his new role.

“Jim’s leadership has been nothing short of transformational,” said Chapman. “His vision and commitment have left a lasting legacy. I am honored to follow in his footsteps and continue building on the strong foundation he helped create.”
