RUTLAND, Vt.–Ron Hance, who had a celebrated credit union career while leading Heritage Family FCU here before retiring in 2014, has died. Mr. Hance was 71.
Hance led his credit union for 36 years during which he was active in numerous credit union organizations, including the National Credit Union Foundation, where he served as a board member and was very active in the Development Education program. He was also active on the board of the World Council of Credit Unions, the Vermont Credit Union League and CUNA, was named to the CUES Hall of Fame, and had also served as a trustee with both College of St. Joseph’s and the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

The thoughts and prayers of the Vermont credit union family are with Marsha and Ron’s family at this very sad time.”
Gigi Hyland, executive director of the National CU Foundation issued a statement saying, “We echo Joe’s sentiments and mourn the loss of an incredible champion of the credit union movement. The Foundation is truly grateful for Ron’s contributions to both our work improving people’s financial lives and for his devotion to the DE Program.”
