NORTH CHESTERFIELD, Va.—After leading Virginia CU for the past 15 years, Jane Watkins announced that she plans to retire next year at the end of March, 2016. Watkins has been with Virginia Credit Unions for 33 years.
The board has a CEO transition committee in place and a successor will be named at some point in the future, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.
“I have truly loved my job working on behalf of our members and I have always considered it a privilege to serve them,” Watkins said in a statement. “Our employees continue to focus on providing great service, value and convenience to meet members’ needs.”
Under Watkins’s leadership, the CU grew from 125,000 members to more than 240,000 today. Total assets have grown from $629 million to $2.7 billion. The number of branches has expanded from nine to 17.
