Lots To Cheer About, But Many Are Grinch-Like

DULUTH, Ga.—The economy may be booming again, but that’s no guarantee of a robust holiday season, according to one survey of consumers.

Georgia Credit Union Affiliates said its Mid-Year 2014 Consumer Survey found more than 60% of respondents said the economy has impacted their holiday plans.

The survey found 34% said they will buy fewer gifts, 24.2% will cut back on traveling and 5.3% will attend fewer parties. But one quarter said they plan to retain their holiday cheer, with 27% saying they won't allow the economy to impact tradition.
