MECU of Baltimore Closes Branches Due to State of Emergency

BALTIMORE—MECU of Baltimore Credit Union has closed two of its branches, including one in its headquarters, as the result of the state of emergency declared in the city. The credit union said the branch located inside its Redwood Street headquarters is closed, as well as a branch located inside the Harry Deitchman PJM Center on N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Its other branches remain open; through CO-OP Network, MECU offers access via kiosks in numerous 7-Elevens, as well.

“We will continue to monitor the situation in the city and update our site with additional closings and information as needed,” MECU said on its website. “Members will still be able to use online banking, mobile banking, telephone teller and ATMs during this time.”

A state of emergency was declared in Baltimore and National Guard troops have been deployed as a result of violence that has taken place after the death of Freddie Gray, who died while in police custody.
