EAST LANSING—Michigan State University Federal Credit Union introduced its new intern center in downtown East Lansing during a grand opening ceremony here.
"This represents the credit union's future and MSU's as well," MSUFCU President and CEO April Clobes told the crowd. "We're trying to prepare the future leaders of the credit union and the community as well."
MSUFCU reported it spent $500,000 to turn a former leasing office into what it calls the Financial Innovation and Education Center. The 2,910-square-foot office will now be home to 22 interns who provide member service and create content for the credit union’s financial education program used in schools and for community organizations. It will also house 12 full-time employees.
The new facility is located close to the Michigan State University campus.
