EAST LANSING, Mich.—Michigan State University FCU is getting closer to opening a downtown office space that will house 20 interns as part of its MSUFCU Financial Innovation and Education Center.

The 2,910-square-foot office space will accommodate the 20 interns who will provide member service and create content for the CUs financial education program used in schools and community organizations, according to the Lansing State Journal.

"With our growing number of interns, we wanted to create a unified program so people have a similar experience," the Lansing State Journal quoted April Clobes, president and CEO of MSUFCU, as saying. Clobes estimated the cost of the project at nearly $500,000.

The new Financial Innovation and Education Center will be located across the street from Michigan State University.  "I think it will help students see the opportunities we have for internships and full employment," Clobes was quoted as saying.

MSUFCU has worked with the program for four years, sending representatives to classrooms to recruit, speak on topics in the industry or even work on class projects. The Lansing State Journal said the sales leadership minor requires students to complete 200 hours in internship experience.

The intern center will be open in mid-April.
