Maine’s Attorney General Gets Up-Close Look At Card Fraud

Janet Mills

AUGUSTA, Maine–Maine’s attorney general is getting personally involved in the issue of debit card fraud—after her own card was breached and her credit union alerted her to the problem.

The card belonging to Attorney General Janet Mills was breached but her credit union put a stop to further fraudulent purchases after spotting unusual activity, according to the Bangor Daily News. The credit union involved was not identified.

A spokesperson said Mills will be receiving a new debit card, one that includes chip-and-PIN technology.

Mills was not among a group of eight state attorneys general who recently wrote to officials at top card issuers urging adoption of chip and PIN.
