RUTLAND, Vt. – A man who allegedly attempted to steal cash from an ATM/night deposit box at Green River Credit Union here last year by ramming the machine with a tractor has been arrested.
Police have arrested 30-year-old Chase Siliski, who will be arraigned in Rutland criminal court in May on charges of felony grand larceny, felony attempted grand larceny and a misdemeanor count of unlawful mischief, the Hastings Tribune reported.
During the robbery attempt, the tractor heavily damaged the CU’s building and its ATM/night deposit box, but the crook failed in his attempt at getting any cash, police said. CUToday.info reported the original incident here.
Police allegedly spotted Siliski last November when they were returning from a hospital run and saw the suspect ramming the ATM on the north side of the building. The suspect fled in the tractor while troopers were en route, then jumped from the tractor and escaped into the woods. The tractor continued to travel through the lawn behind and apartment complex and only stopped after it struck a large tree, just a few feet from a residential building. Siliski was apprehended on April 10.
