Mass CU 1st To Take Advantage Of Law Allowing Branching Across State Lines

Mark S. Cochran

LOWELL, Mass.—Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union said it will become the first Massachusetts credit union to take advantage of a new interstate branching bill and move across the state line into Nashua, N.H.

The interstate branching bill was passed on Oct. 1, 2015. It allows state chartered credit unions to open one branch per year in another state, within a 100-mile radius of its main office. Jeanne D’Arc will break ground on the branch on April 4.

“We are building this new branch office to enhance our ability to serve our existing members and to offer a competitive, alternative banking solution to area residents,” said Mark S. Cochran, president and CEO of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “Opening an office in Nashua will make it easier for our members who live or work in Nashua and Hudson, N.H., as well as Tyngsboro, Littleton and Pepperell, to conduct their financial business.”
