Mastercard Launches Agentic AI Suite Aimed At FIs, Merchants, And Payments Ops

PURCHASE, N.Y.--Mastercard is rolling out a new Agent Suite designed to help financial institutions and merchants deploy agentic AI across payments, customer engagement, and product delivery, as banks and fintechs race to automate more decisioning and service workflows, the company reported.

The offering, set to launch in Q2, combines customizable AI agents with Mastercard’s payments data, proprietary platforms, and advisory services.

The Mastercard Agent Suite allows customers to build, test, and deploy AI agents tailored to operational and customer-facing use cases. Mastercard said the tools are intended to support automation in areas such as product recommendations, marketing, customer interactions, and transaction-related decisioning, backed by its network data and fraud, identity, and payments infrastructure.

“Readiness is the new competitive advantage,” said Kaushik Gopal, Mastercard’s head of insights and intelligence. “Mastercard Agent Suite builds on our core strengths and capabilities to ensure our customers can be both nimble and practical as they turn innovation into outcomes.”

For FIs, early use cases include AI-driven product recommendations, such as steering customers toward relevant cards or deposit accounts, testing offer strategies, launching targeted campaigns, and tracking performance to drive portfolio growth and cross-sell. For merchants, agents can be configured to manage inventory rules, pricing, promotions, and brand voice, delivering real-time personalized recommendations across digital and in-store channels, Mastercard explained.

Mastercard said the platform is built with privacy, security, and responsible AI controls, aligning with its broader risk-management framework. The company expects agentic AI to support a growing share of customer interactions and operational tasks by 2030, citing broader industry forecasts that enterprise software adoption of agentic AI will expand significantly by 2028.

The Agent Suite expands Mastercard’s broader AI stack, which includes Agent Pay for agent-driven transactions and the Mastercard Developers Agent Toolkit, as well as advisory services and startup partnerships focused on agentic commerce. For financial institutions, the move signals Mastercard’s intent to deepen its role not just in payments processing, but in automation, personalization, and AI-driven growth strategy across banking and commerce.
