THREE RIVERS, Calif.–Members of Valley Oak Credit Union here have been hit by a debit card breach.
According to ABC 30, over the weekend thieves went on a spending spree using debit cards from the credit union.
In all, Valley Oak reported 84 member cards were red flagged, with thieves cracking the card numbers and committing fraudulent transactions on 18 of those cards.
VOCU told ABC 30 that each fraudulent transaction was about $400, all of which added up to $7,000 by the time the cards were cut off. The bogus purchases were traced to Mexico and some to Target stores.
