LANSING—The Michigan Credit Union League and Affiliates awarded Limestone Federal Credit Union in Manistique, Mich., with its Outstanding Credit Union of the Year award.
According to the MCUL, the award goes to credit unions for achievements in service to members, programs provided, financial literacy efforts, community involvement, legislative advocacy and public relations marketing.
CEO Jennifer Watson reported that Limestone's assets have grown 140% since 2005, while loans have risen 139% and membership 43% over that time.
The league reported that Limestone has two financial counselors on its staff and offers structured savings programs used in conjunction with debt consolidation loans. Limestone Federal’s 10-year mortgages have helped members save more than $1.5 million combined.
