SAINT PAUL, Minn. –The Minnesota Credit Union Network’s (MnCUN) Political Involvement Committee has voted to endorse Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) in the 6th Congressional District race.
“We are proud to have a credit union champion in Congress that fights for their ability to serve credit union members and local communities,” MnCUN Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Smith said in a statement. “We fully support his re-election efforts and encourage all credit union advocates in the 6th District to vote for him.”
Emmer, who is majority whip in the House, was first elected to Congress in 2015.
The MnCUN pointed to Rep. Emmer’s support of the Credit Union Governance Modernization Act and the Credit Union Board Modernization Bill as among the reasons for its support.
‘A Great Partner’
“Consumers and small businesses have a great partner with credit unions with local and Main Street-focused financial services,” Emmer said in a statement. “I am honored to have the endorsement of the Minnesota Credit Union Network and will remain committed to fostering a fair marketplace, enabling credit unions to thrive.”
