ARLINGTON, Va.—NAFCU has added Alexander Monterrubio and Kavitha Subramanian to its team of regulatory affairs counsels.
The trade association said the new hires will allow the trade association to increase assistance to its member CUs as new regulations come down the pike.
NAFCU explained that Monterrubio and Subramanian will be responsible for issuing regulatory alerts to NAFCU members, speaking at credit union events and the association’s conferences, participating in webcasts and writing regulatory articles for certain NAFCU publications.
“Alexander and Kavitha are wonderful additions to our already exceptional team,” said Alicia Nealon, NAFCU’s director of regulatory affairs. “Their insight and analytical skills will be critical in helping NAFCU keep the association’s members apprised of vital regulatory developments affecting credit union operations.”
Monterrubio is a graduate of the University of California Davis School of Law and holds a bachelor of art’s degree in political science and history from George Washington University. Prior to law school, Monterrubio was on the government relations staff at the National Association Management Group LLC, where he represented restaurant franchisees.
Before joining NAFCU, Subramanian worked at the U.S. Treasury Department and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a law clerk. She was also a regulatory compliance law clerk at NAFCU in the spring of 2014. Subramanian holds a law degree from George Mason University School of Law and has a bachelor of art’s degree in government and English from Georgetown University.
