ARLINGTON, Va.—NAFCU has written a letter to House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chairman Sean Duffy (R-WI) in support of several pieces of legislation he recently reintroduced in the 114th Congress to bring more transparency to the operations of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
In the letter, written by NAFCU Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler, support is expressed for Duffy's legislation H.R. 1261,the "Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection Act," subjecting the CFPB to the regular Congressional appropriations process.
Thaler wrote that NAFCU supports Duffy's bill H.R. 1263, and that it makes much needed improvements to ensure effectiveness of the Financial Stability Oversight Council and H.R. 1265, legislation that would apply requirements of the Federal Advisory Committee Act to the CFPB.
Lastly, Thaler expressed the association's support for H.R. 1262, the "Consumer Right to Financial Privacy Act," addressing CFPB data collection efforts.
"We look forward to working with you and your staff as these bills move through the committee process," Thaler said in the letter to Duffy.
