NAFCU’s Berger At White House Cybersecurity Summit Today

Dan Berger, NAFCU

PALO ALTO, Calif.—NAFCU President/CEO Dan Berger will be among those attending a White House Summit on Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection today at Stanford University.

In addition to remarks from President Obama, among those addressing the meeting will be Apple CEO Tim Cook and Small Business Administration Administrator Maria Conereras-Sweet. Numerous other CEOs from large companies, including financial services providers, will also be on hand.

“NAFCU applauds the president for his commitment to address the growing cybersecurity threats to our economy and consumers. We welcome the opportunity to be part of this vital discussion and to help advance solutions to prevent future cyberattacks and protect American consumers,” said Berger in a statement. “We will also continue our efforts to win passage of legislation to hold retailers and merchants to national data security standards such as those required now of credit unions and other financial institutions.”

The Summit seeks to bring together leaders from across the country who have a stake in this issue — industry, tech companies, law enforcement, consumer and privacy advocates, law professors who specialize in this field, and students — to collaborate and explore partnerships that will help develop the best ways to bolster cybersecurity.
