WASHINGTON—NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger discussed top credit union issues and NAFCU’s advocacy goals during a meeting Wednesday with House Ways and Means Tax Policy Subcommittee Chairman Charles Boustany (R-LA).
NAFCU Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler also attended Wednesday’s meeting.
Boustany was one of 329 House members that signed a letter asking CFPB Director Richard Cordray to use the bureau’s Dodd-Frank Act authority to exempt credit unions from certain rulemakings.
During Wednesday’s meeting, Berger also thanked Boustany for his continued support of credit unions.
The Tax Policy Subcommittee has jurisdiction over all measures dealing with revenue. During Wednesday’s meeting, Berger also reiterated the importance of credit union’s tax exemption to the U.S. economy.
