WASHINGTON—On Capitol Hill this week, NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger will testify Wednesday during the Committee on Small Business hearing titled, Small Business, Big Threat: Protecting Small Businesses from Cyber Attacks.
The purpose of the hearing is to examine the current state of cyber-security for small firms and steps that can strengthen their efforts in information protection.
CUNA is also emphasizing the importance of data security, hailing the introduction of the Data Security Act of 2015 by Sens. Tom Carper (D-DE) and Roy Blunt (R-MO). S.961 would establish strong and uniform national data security and breach notification standards for electronic data.
“We appreciate the leadership from Senators Carper and Blunt,” said Ryan Donovan, CUNA’s chief advocacy officer. “This bill is improved legislation over what they introduced last year and we are looking forward to working with the senators to get this legislation to the President’s desk.”
