LOUISVILLE, Ky.—NAFCU has kicked off its Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee Conference here.
Keynoting the meeting today at the Louisville Marriott Downtown is Air Force Maj. Dan Rooney. Rooney founded Folds of Honor, a non-profit organization that has raised over $70 million and has awarded nearly 8,000 educational scholarships to the family members of soldiers killed or disabled in combat. He wrote the book, “A Patriot's Calling: Living Life Between Fear and Faith.”
“This conference provides attendees a great opportunity to hone their skills as a strategic leader,” said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger. “The program’s sessions and speakers help prepare board and supervisory committee members to guide their credit unions successfully into the future.”
Berger delivered a “Washington Update” on the current legislative and regulatory environment and how it’s affecting credit union operations. A number of leading industry professionals are on the meeting agenda today.
In an optional pre-conference workshop yesterday, registrants who passed the workshop exam received the new NAFCU Certified Volunteer Expert certification. Workshop attendees also received the new NAFCU Credit Union Director Handbook, written by Anthony Demangone, NAFCU’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Attendees of the conference have the opportunity to earn NAFCU financial literacy, supervisory committee, and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training certificates. They can also receive continuing professional education (CPE) credits for CPAs.
The conference runs through May 13.
