BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Two credit unions that earlier announced a merger have now also announced the new name for the combined institution. Warren Federal Credit Union in Wyoming and Community Financial Credit Union in Colorado are on pace to merge April 1. They will do so under one name, Blue Federal Credit Union, and will have combined assets of approximately $830 million.
Warren branches in Cheyenne, Laramie, and Northern Colorado will be re-branded with the new Blue logo beginning in early May. Branches that compose the current network of Community Financial in Broomfield and Boulder will also be updated to reflect the bright, modern look that the two credit unions said characterizes Blue Federal Credit Union.
“Blue is the unifying color of the two organizations, and was used in each group’s previous logos. To us, it speaks to aspirational thinking, and represents the ascending mountains and endless skies of the places we call home,” said Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Teubner, adding the name connects the two organizations and speaks to their shared history in the West and their commitment to member relationships. (The name) also captured the confidence and trust our members have placed in us as well as the unwavering optimism we feel as organizations going into the merger.”
The extremely competitive Front Range financial landscape was also a key factor in the naming decision. “As we maintain our strong position in Wyoming and emerge as a leader in Northern Colorado, it’s important for Blue to establish and maintain an iconic presence,” Teubner said.
Teubner said the shared color as the foundation of our new branding has allowed us to create visual brand elements and signage that will engage members and stand apart from our competitors in the market.”
The $595-million Warren FCU has almost 55,000 members. The $236-million Community Financial has almost 17,000 members.
