VIENNA, Va.—Carrie Hunt, a longtime credit union advocacy leader and former chief advocacy officer at America’s Credit Unions, has joined Navy Federal Credit Union as senior vice president of advocacy and strategic partnerships.
Hunt disclosed the move Tuesday on her LinkedIn page, confirming she is now part of the leadership team at the $194-billion institution—the largest credit union in the nation.
CUToday.info reached out to Hunt last week after multiple sources indicated she had accepted the role, but she did not return the communication.
Hunt resigned from ACU in August, shortly after the trade group announced that Scott Simpson would become its next president and CEO. Her departure followed months of speculation that she had been under consideration for the top job. Hunt had joined ACU in March 2024 after leading the Virginia Credit Union League and previously serving as executive vice president of government affairs and general counsel at NAFCU.
The Defense Credit Union Council congratulated Hunt on her new role.
“We offer our congratulations to Carrie on this new position,” said DCUC Chief Advocacy Officer Jason Stverak. “And while Navy Federal is not a dues-paying member of DCUC, we have always looked for ways to work to ensure that we advocate for policies that are beneficial not only to the members of defense credit unions but the entire credit union movement. I look forward to sitting down and seeing where we can work together on issues important not only to Navy Federal but to the entire credit union industry.”
