VIENNA, Va.—Navy FCU’s online and mobile banking app went down last week, frustrating many members and prompting at least one person to consider moving their account, MSN.com reported.
MSN.com said Thursday there was a spike of several thousand users reporting issues at approximately 9:30 a.m., according to DownDetector.com, which tracks service outages on a multitude of online platforms, including Navy Federal Credit Union.
Approximately 65% of DownDetector.com users reported issues with the app's functionality, while about 29% said they had problems accessing the online banking system on the financial institution's website. An additional 6% reported that they could not log in, MSN.com said.
Navy Fed addressed the matter on X, responding to users who tagged them in posts asking the CU to look into the problems.

The CU replied at 10:02 a.m., "Hi, George. We're aware that some members are encountering these issues, and we're actively working to address them. Thank you for your patience, and we apologize for the inconvenience. For immediate assistance, we're available 24/7 at 1-888-842-6328.”
Similar comments appeared on multiple other tweets, urging those with complaints to contact the credit union through the provided phone number for immediate assistance. Each tweet also mentioned that the CU’s tech team was actively investigating the issue. However, more than an hour after the problem began, it remained unresolved, according to MSN.com.
“Some (members) began commenting that they were considering leaving the (credit union) and transferring their funds to other accounts. @thevikingcorn wrote: ‘@NavyFederal really be getting on my nerves with they app not working, I’m just trying move money around that they took out for no reason, I swear I should just switch banks.,’" MSN.com said.
According to some DownDetector.com users, the outages from Navy Federal Credit Union have been occurring in brief increments for the past couple of days, prompting one member to comment, “The website and app is down again."
