PASADENA, Calif.—Another CU is performing random acts of kindness to give back to the local community—and even giving folks a boost on Tax Day.
This time it’s the $2.8-billion Wescom CU, whose staff are on the streets and at various dining and entertainment locations throughout Southern California surprising people with #WescomKindness by paying tabs and giving out gift cards through July 4, 2015.
“Nothing is better than putting a smile on someone’s face, especially when they are not expecting it. We had such enjoyment coming up with ways to surprise people with Wescom Kindness, everything from staking out food trucks and movie theaters to just making someone’s day when it is most needed,” Deena Spicer, Wescom SVP of administration told Business Wire.
Spicer also hinted that Wescom street teams will surprise people with gift cards at select post office locations to help take the sting out of Tax Day today.
It’s all part of Wescom’s plan to pay it forward and bring Wescom Kindness to the SoCal community. Locations and times for some events will go out in advance via social media, but often the best moments take place when people have no idea that their bill is about to be paid, the CU explained.
Wescom kicked off the campaign by surprising thousands of customers of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf by paying for their coffee and breakfast tabs. In addition to surprise savings at movie theaters and restaurants, Wescom will be paying tabs at select locations of The Grilled Cheese Truck and The Lobsta Truck, among other food trucks.
