Newest Potential Member Born in CU’s Parking Lot

RIDGEFIELD, Wash.—A police officer last week delivered a baby of a local resident in the parking lot of an IQ CU office here.

When her contractions started Wednesday morning, Aja Shelton headed to the hospital with her sister-in-law, but the baby wouldn’t wait.

“I just knew he was coming,” Shelton told Fox 13. “I was just trying to get him out.”

Ridgefield police officer David Bone, who was a paramedic for 11 years, was starting his shift and was in the area. He said he noticed a woman waving him down in the CU’s parking lot and went over to help.

Two minutes after Bone arrived, Shelton gave birth to her son, Silas.

“I had enough time to get out of my car, walk up and, oh, here comes baby,” Bone told Fox 13. “I didn’t have a whole lot of time because the head was crowning and I just basically put my hand underneath the baby’s head and helped the baby out.”
