Northwest CU Assn. Shrinks Board; Elects New Members

SEA TAC, Wash./TIGARD, Ore.–The Northwest Credit Union Association has adopted a new governance model and reduced its board to nine members from 11.

The restructuring took effect during the NWCUA’s Annual Business Meeting at its Amplify Convention in Portland, Ore.

The restructuring coincides with board elections. Jack Fallis, president and CEO of Spokane, Wash.-based Global Credit Union, was re-elected to serve a second year as chair of the board. Brooke Van Vleet, president and CEO of St. Helens Community Credit Union in St. Helens, Ore., was elected to the position of vice chair. serving as secretary/treasurer for the 2015-2016 term will be John Zmolek, president and CEO of Seattle based Verity Credit Union.

Two members of the 2014-2015 board of directors concluded their service at the annual business meeting and were honored with proclamations: Phil Jones, president/CEO of Harborstone CU in Lakewood, Wash., and Tom Griffith, CEO of Pacific NW FCU in Portland.

Also re-elected to the board was Debbie Keesee, CEO of Spokane Media FCU in Spokane, Wash.  The other members of the 2015-2016 board of directors are: Parker Cann, SVP and general counsel, BECU, Tukwila, Wash.; Bert Fisher, CEO, Our Community Credit Union, Shelton, Wash.; Jim Lumpkin, president/CEO, USAgencies, Portland, Ore.; Bob Newcomb, CEO, SELCO Community Credit Union, Eugene, Ore., and Mina Worthington, CEO/president, Solarity Credit Union in Yakima, Wash.

Meanwhile, Barbara Mathey, president/CEO of Portland-based IBEW & United Workers Federal Credit Union, has been elected to serve as 2015-2016 chair of the Northwest Credit Union Foundation (NWCUF) board. Mathey succeeds Steve Wilder, cooperative engagement administrator at Horizon Credit Union in Spokane Valley, Wash. Wilder has served nearly a decade on credit union foundation boards, and will continue as a member of the NWCUF board.

Shelli Millhuff, president and CEO of Nordstrom FCU, Seattle, will serve as vice chair of the NWCUF board. Kyle Frick, vice president/marketing at Bend, Ore.-based Mid Oregon Credit Union, is the 2015-2016 treasurer, and Jane Parker, human resource director, Woodstone Credit Union in Federal Way, Wash., continues to serve as secretary to the board.
