Northwest FCU Leverages Tech In New Branch

HERNDON, Va.—Northwest FCU is opening a new high-tech branch here it expects will not only streamline service but help to engage members with the credit union.

The $2.6-billion CU’s newest branch is set to open in late January, and is a “member-centric” office designed to deliver a “high-touch user experience,” the CU explained.

Located at 2545 Centreville Road, it’s the CU’s first venture into an office equipped with interactive displays.

The location will include:

  • The “Discovery Zone, featuring videos and digital brochures, and a tablet check-out center.
  • A Wi-Fi barand hotspot with charging station, Wi-Fi access and boards with news and weather.
  • A product and services wall, where members learn about the CU’s latest events, promotions, and current savings and loan rates.

Northwest Federal is sending members an announcement about the grand opening, and letting them know the CU will pay $25 to all new members and to those who refer new members.

“While our online and mobile banking platforms are popular with many members, along with our extensive ATM network and numerous CU service centers, in-person banking options are still important,” said CEO Chris McDonald. “Given our continued growth throughout Northern Virginia, we decided to expand our branch network to offer members more choice and convenience for their financial needs.”
