SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The $470-million Notre Dame FCU is rolling out a new security feature on its debit and credit cards called “Irish Card Shield” that will allow cardholders to activate and deactivate their cards in real time from their mobile phones.
Irish Card Shield will empower members to:
- Turn cards on and off in real time.
- Designate specific locations where a card can be used.
- Approve merchant categories, like grocery stores and gas stations, for purchases.
- Set per-transaction limits on spending.
- Receive text alerts for each transaction.
- Allow card use only when near your cell phone.
Notre Dame FCU President and CEO Tom Gryp said rolling out the service was an expensive investment, but a much needed investment in order to give our members the ability to personally take control of their cards.”
The Irish Card Shield is being offered no charge to Notre Dame FCU members and will be available for download for both Android and iOS smartphones this spring.
