HOUSTON–Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union has awarded Cheryl Price—who teaches technology and math to second-, third-, and fourth- grade students at Emmott Elementary School—one-year’s worth of mortgage payments totaling $24,000. Price was presented with the surprise award during Cy-Fair Educational Foundation’s Salute to the Stars annual gala.

“I have been a member of Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union since I was a child,” said Price.  “I am very thankful to the credit union for this tremendous gift.  It will allow me to purchase my first home, something that would not have been possible before.”

The gala, which also serves as a scholarship fundraiser for the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF), celebrates the contributions of all Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District educators and recognizes the top teachers from around the district. Principals from each of Cy-Fair’s 86 schools nominated a “Spotlight Teacher” to be honored at the event. This year’s gala underwriter was the Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center.  Each of the Spotlight Teachers were entered into a random drawing for the credit union’s one-year mortgage giveaway.

“Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union was originally started by and for the many outstanding educators who have helped build one of the best school districts in the country,” said Cameron Dickey, the credit union’s president and CEO.  “The Spotlight Teacher Mortgage Giveaway is Cy-Fair FCU’s way of honoring our historic connection to the school district, as well as supporting and giving back to those who give so much to our local students, families and communities.”

“Every time I look at my new home, I will remember the great generosity and support of Cy-Fair FCU,” said Price. “It inspires me to continue doing my best for my students each day.”
