WASHINGTON—Treasury Under Secretary for Domestic Finance Nellie Liang will chair a public meeting today of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission (FLEC).
Liang will be joined by the Vice Chair of the FLEC, Rohit Chopra, director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, FDIC Chairman Martin Gruenberg, Acting Comptroller Michael Hsu, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Department of Labor Ali Khawar, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Education Cindy Marten, deputy secretary of the Department of Education, and Social Security Administration Assistant Deputy Commissioner Jeffrey Buckner will also participate.
Two Panel Discussions
The meeting, which will begin at 1:00 p.m. ET, will be focused on consumer financial fraud and scams and will feature two panel discussions, according to Treasury.
- The first panel will discuss recent trends in financial fraud and recourse options for consumers.
- The second panel will discuss innovative financial education strategies to address consumer fraud.
