ATHENS, Ohio—Ohio University Credit Union is offering 0% “green loans” for zero-emission electric vehicles.
The no-interest loan can cover up to 100% financing. It is part of the community’s UpGrade Athens County program.
The CU stated the loan’s goal is to increase the number of EV riders in Athens County. Borrowers must choose from a list of a dozen approved vehicles. The EV Loan Program will be in place for a full year until December 2016, and with enough community interest, may extend for an additional six months, the CU stated.
UpGrade Athens County will serve as the outreach organization on the initiative. It will provide the creation and distribution of informational materials, general awareness of EVs and the loan program, and support for the potential to form an auto club within the community to highlight EVs as a valuable transportation alternative, Athens News reported.
