TALLAHASSEE, Fla.–A one-armed man who allegedly robbed a credit union here was arrested after family members recognized him from surveillance photos.
According to Tallahassee police, Dwane Lasalle Walker, 51, has been arrested on charges of robbery and theft related to a robbery at First Commerce Credit Union here. Another man, Reginald Fryson, 48, has also been arrested in connection with the robbery.
Police said Walker walked into the FCCU branch and approached a teller with a note reading, “"Hand me $100,000 in my hand right now. No bait money. I have a gun and will use it." Walker was given more than $5,000 in cash before he ran out and across the CU’s parking lot.
Tallahassee Police said that later that night they were contacted by police by an anonymous woman who said she was “100% certain” the suspect was a one-arm man who drove a white truck; she provided an address. But police said the owner of the truck didn’t match the suspect’s description.
Later, however, police said that several relatives contacted them to say they had seen photos of the suspect in the media and were confident it was Walker, who is missing his right arm from a previous injury, and that he had been driving a white truck he had borrowed from a friend.
Walker was arrested at the Baymont Inn & Suites. Money was recovered at that scene, along with another hotel at which Fryson was arrested.
