PLEASANTON, Calif.—Patelco Credit Union reported it recently partnered with the CO-OP network to raise $20,000 for Bay Area Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
The funds were raised after Patelco challenged its members to delay holiday shopping on Black Friday and instead shop on “Giving Tuesday,” Dec. 1, as part of the “Shop for Miracles” campaign. For every Patelco debit or credit card swipe, scan and online purchase members made on Giving Tuesday, the credit union pledged to donate 25 cents toward CMN.
The challenge goal was 40,000 debit and credit purchases to raise $10,000 and members met the challenge. In addition, CO-OP matched every dollar Patelco raised, which brought the total donation to $20,000.
“This was an amazing opportunity for our members to avoid the lines and chaos of Black Friday and put their holiday shopping toward supporting our local Children’s Miracle Network,” said CEO and President Erin Mendez. “We have a long-standing relationship with the Children’s Miracle Network and know first-hand how much a financial boost like this will help children and families in the communities we serve.”
The $4-billion Patelco has 290,000 members.
