SAN FRANCISCO—PayPal and Venmo have incorporated the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) into their payment platforms in an effort to simplify cryptocurrency transactions, according to a new report.
ENS is a decentralized, open-source naming system built on the Ethereum blockchain that allows users to replace long, complicated wallet addresses with simple, readable names, similar to how domain names work for websites, according to a report by Cardano.
“Previously, users had to deal with lengthy, confusing wallet addresses, increasing the risk of errors when sending crypto,” the report stated. “With ENS integration, users can simply type in a human-readable ENS name to send crypto. This streamlines the entire process and minimizes the possibility of mistakes. This new feature is expected to make cryptocurrency transactions more accessible to everyday users, enhancing the overall user experience on both platforms.
‘Growing Interest’
“Presently, this feature is only available to users in the U.S., but its launch signifies a growing interest in making cryptocurrency more mainstream…,” the Cardano report continued. “The integration represents another major step toward the widespread adoption of blockchain technology.”
