ALEXANDRIA, Va.—A new record for comment letters has been set, with NCUA reporting the current count for comments on the member business lending proposal is 3,086.
That total far surpasses the previous comment period record of 2,170 letters for the first risk-based capital proposal.
Of the MBL comments, 2,759 are opposed to the rule, and 327 are in favor, NCUA stated. That statistic supports a previous CUToday.info report that stated bankers dominated the comment letters.
A review by CUToday.info of the first 100 comment letters indicates that banker letters outnumber CU comments by almost 10 to one.
The agency explained that a small number of additional comments, submitted prior to the deadline, may arrive via regular mail.
The comment deadline was Aug. 31.
