TUSCALOOSA, Ala.–Alabama One Credit Union, which is being operated under conservatorship by the state regulator, has taken two steps to rebuild the management team.
The Alabama Credit Union Administration said that Jason Halperin has been named chief lending officer, while Shelby Grantham has been named controller. Halperin was previously with Georgia United Credit Union in Duluth, Ga. The state said Grantham has “an extensive accounting background in several financial institutions and companies,” and also worked as a consultant.
The ACUA seized Alabama One during 2015 following financial losses and controversy surrounding a lending deal that went sour. That led to lawsuits by the former CEO and some members of the board against against the ACUA and even the governor of Alabama. Details can be found here.
The $580-million Alabama One has 60,000 members.
