Rep Says He’ll Intro Bill To Incent Biz to Share Breach Info

WASHINGTON—Rep. Mike McCaul (R-TX), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said he will introduce legislation that will offer incentives to businesses to share cyberthreat information with the federal government.

The bill would designate the Department of Homeland Security's National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center, known as NCCIC, as the place where businesses would use to share cyberthreat information with the government to help prevent breaches. The Senate Intelligence Committee has already approved a Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, but McCaul said his bill differs in that it would not require businesses to share information with intelligence agencies.
