ST. LOUIS—A man who allegedly robbed a credit union, telling a teller he had a gun in his pocket, has been arrested.
St. Louis County Police said 50-year-old Richard Meshell walked into Century Credit Union at 1540 Lemay Ferry Road around 11:13 a.m. Friday, presented a note demanding money and motioned like he had a gun in his pocket, First Alert 4 reported.
Meshell fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said officers saw Meshell nearby and told him to stop, but he fled on a scooter. While fleeing he ran into an officer, injuring them, First Alert 4 said.
When police arrested Meshell, officers allegedly found the note, money from the CU and a can opener in his pocket, First Alert 4 said.
Following his arrest, St. Louis County prosecutors charged Meshell with first-degree robbery and felony resisting arrest. He is confined at the St. Louis County Jail on $75,000 cash-only bond.
