Robbery Suspect Commits Suicide After Being Confronted By Police

CHATSWORTH, Ga. — A man suspected of robbing a credit union killed himself after leading authorities on a short chase by car, according to authorities.

The Chatsworth police department said the unidentified white male entered Comtrust Federal Credit Union at 1211 N. Third Ave. and demanded money, which he received. He left the CU and employees dialed 911. Police from several agencies responded, and after finding a vehicle matching the description were led on a short chase. Police reported that a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol ended the chase with the PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver.

“As law enforcement officers approached the vehicle the male subject died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” police said in a press release.

An investigation is now taking place.
