SUMTER, S.C. - SAFE Federal Credit Union CEO Michael Baker and his wife, Carrie, are hospitalized following a serious motorcycle accident in North Carolina.
The $1.8-billion credit union said Monday that the couple were injured over the weekend while traveling and are both receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C.
In a statement on its Facebook page, SAFE said: “There are days when our SAFE Family and community must come together and today is one of those days…Michael is more than SAFE’s president and CEO. In addition to being a much-loved husband and father, he is a friend, leader, and trusted resource to so many SAFE employees and members. We all wish him a full and speedy recovery though we know it will take time…While Michael recovers, SAFE’s executive team and board will ensure the credit union remains on course and true to its mission of service to our members and communities. In the meantime, please keep Michael, Carrie, and their entire family in your thoughts and prayers.”
