SARASOTA, Fla.— A Sarasota man is behind bars after allegedly robbing the same credit union branch twice within a month, the Observer reported.
Christopher A. Borchardt, 25, has been charged with two counts of robbery without a weapon. His arrest followed a joint investigation involving multiple sheriff’s office units and the FBI, the Observer said.
The USF Credit Union branch at 3487 Clark Road was first robbed around noon on June 20. The suspect fled on foot toward Bronx Avenue, just west of the branch. On July 18, a second robbery occurred under nearly identical circumstances, with the suspect again escaping in the same direction. No injuries were reported in either incident, and authorities have not disclosed how much money was taken, the Observer said.
Investigators ultimately identified Borchardt as the suspect and searched his residence, located less than a block from the credit union. He was arrested and booked into the Sarasota County Jail. Jail records indicate he is being held without bond.
The case remains under investigation, authorities said.
