SAN DIEGO—In conjunction with the San Diego Chargers, San Diego County Credit Union sponsored “Chargers Drive XXXVI” here yesterday at the Town & Country Convention Center as part of a broad effort to collect blood donations. The long-running community event included appearances by Chargers players, live music, interactive activities, and free bone marrow registry testing.
The event also included an expanded “Wellness Zone” with interactive exhibits and activities, food sampling and more, including a walk-through exhibit of the human heart and information on how a blood sample can be utilized for clinical research into the treatment of disease.
Admission charges are being donated to help fund the purchase of a new bloodmobile.
