PHILADELPHIA—Sb1 FCU has formed a “Go Green” team designed to help reduce the credit union’s overall carbon footprint, improve the workplace environment, and encourage other businesses to go green, according to the Pennsylvania CU Association.
Sb1 has already begun producing a monthly, electronic, employee newsletter featuring Go Green updates for work and home.
“We’ve given our employees new ways to think about the environment,” Rob Werner, Sb1 FCU President and CEO, told the Pennsylvania CU Association. “We’ve eliminated Styrofoam cups in the workplace, begun using electronic signature pads in the branches, and are looking to add more plants in the office. We’ve even added the words ‘Go Green’ on everyone’s energy-saving screen saver.”
The PCUA reported that Sb1 FCU has also begun a member-facing campaign to increase electronic statement usage, as well. Members earn $10 when they switch from paper statements to e-statements. In addition, a shred event was scheduled where members could bring sensitive documents to two convenient locations to be shredded and properly recycled.
