FRANKENMUTH, Mich.–Frankenmuth Credit Union here, which recently was one of three credit unions to win $10,000 to be donated to the charity of its choice through the Share the Love competition, has named a local green market as the recipient of the funds.

Frankenmuth CU has designated the Frankenmuth Farmers Market, which is in the process of building a new facility adjacent to the credit union, as the recipient of the funds, according to the Michigan CU League. According to FCU CEO Vickie Schmitzer, the credit union was able to offer some extra land to the farmers market in order for it to build a standalone facility. The farmers market organizers have raised more than $1 million toward the project on their own, but needed to finance the rest of it, according to the MCUL.
