MADISON, Wis.–The National Credit Union Foundation has approved 16 new Biz Kid$ financial education grants for 2015, totaling $78,000.
These grants are distributed to encourage the credit union movement to use Biz Kid$ and its curriculum to build students financial literacy and economic education skills, according to the Foundation.
Biz Kid$ is the credit union funded public television series that teaches kids about money management and entrepreneurship.
Among some of the grant projects:
- Atomic Credit Union in Piketon, Ohio, will implement the Biz Kid$ Piggy Bank Hunt in eight of its student-run branches. ACU will utilize the Biz Kid$ DVDs in financial education sessions in the classroom, and will present the program at two of their local YMCA summer camps.
- Credit Union League of Connecticut in Meriden will utilize its young professional network to educate them CUs about Biz Kid$ resources. They will task CUs with developing a plan to bring Biz Kid$ into the schools across the state and teach it to students.
- Credit Unions Care Foundation of Virginia, Lynchburg, will utilize Biz Kid$ episodes to meet the economics and personal finance standards of learning that are mandated for graduating high school seniors in Virginia. They will customize Biz Kid$ box sets to meet the standards and will provide teacher training workshops to share the resource.
- Natco Credit Union in Richmond, Ind., will work with the Boys & Girls Club of America to integrate Biz Kid$ into their current financial education curriculum and introduce credit unions nationally to the opportunities available through partnerships with their local Boys & Girls Clubs and Biz Kid$.
- Northwest Credit Union Foundation in SeaTac, Wash., will offer Biz Kid$ Starter Kits to children who are being treated at the six regional CMN Hospitals within Oregon and Washington by choosing four families per hospital to grant this gift to their respective school.

- Securityplus Federal Credit Union, Baltimore, Md.
- ServU Federal Credit Union, Painted Post, N.Y.
- Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, Lakewood, N.Y.
- Trona Valley Federal Credit Union, Green River, Wyo.
