ABERDEEN, Md.—ATM skimmers were discovered on two credit union ATMs but were found and removed before any user’s personal financial information could have been compromised.
According to APG FCU, it found the skimmers at drive-up ATMs at two separate branches. Once the devices were discovered police were contacted and the ATMs were taken offline for inspection.
“We intercepted the devices before the perpetrators could return to retrieve any data they were attempting to record,” Brian Wilcox, senior vice president of marketing, told local media. “We routinely monitor our ATMs for tampering. The security of our members and others who access our services is our number one priority."
