Smart Financial Announces New CEO

HOUSTON—Smart Financial Credit Union has named Larry Seidl as its new CEO, effective Jan. 1. On Dec. 31, CEO Gary Tuma is retiring.

“Larry has a keen understanding of Smart Financial’s culture and its history of service to Greater Houston and the surrounding communities,” said Tuma in a statement. “I am confident that Smart Financial will thrive under his leadership and expertise.”

With more than 25 years of credit union management experience, Seidl’s experience includes lending, operations, and product and business development. Since 2010, Seidl has served as SVP and CLO for Smart Financial Credit Union.

Before joining Smart Financial, Seidl most recently served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of the Dallas Telco Federal Credit Union for five years. Prior to serving with Dallas Telco, Seidl served as vice president of lending and collections for Neighborhood Credit Union and was previously with Community Credit Union.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to build on the momentum Mr. Tuma has created for Smart Financial and look forward to continuing to serve our members as I embark on this new chapter,” said Seidl in a statement.
