RALEIGH, N.C.–State Employees’ Credit Union has reached a new milestone, having passed the two-million member mark.
The world’s second-largest credit union at $30.5-billion in assets now operates 254 branches, having opened 22 new branches in North Carolina over the past five years. SECU recently announced that one-in-five North Carolinians belong to the credit union, which was founded in 1937, and that a recent analysis found it provides $750 million in benefits to members each year.
“SECU is committed to providing members with products and services that meet their needs in a convenient and affordable way, while keeping their best interests at heart,” said Board Chairman Jim Johnson. “For a credit union that doesn’t use traditional advertising, crossing the two-million member mark is a wonderful achievement that demonstrates our members’ belief in the credit union, as well as their willingness to serve as word-of-mouth marketers.”
